Telecommunications operator T-Mobile revealed on Thursday that the US branch of their company was the victim of a data breach. This breach has affected an undisclosed number of customers. The number is reported to be small, and the breach only impacts customers using T-Mobile’s prepaid services.
In a statement released on their website, T-Mobile reassured their users that their financial data, social security numbers, or passwords were not compromised. The data that was accessed include name, billing address, phone number, account number, rate plan, and added features.
The breach has been disclosed to the authorities. Additionally, all customers have, or will be notified and encouraged to change their passwords immediately.
In regards to future prevention, T-Mobile stated, in their additional information section, that, “T-Mobile, like any other corporation, is unfortunately not immune to this type of criminal attack.
